Professor Jonathan T. Hughes, Ph.D.
November/December 2003

SJU Graduate Bulletin 2000-2002
COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The development of mandated collective negotiations in education is traced and discussed. Particular emphasis is placed on the Fair Employment Practices Act as it relates to public education in New York State. Research in collective negotiations literature is examined with emphasis on the applicability to each student's needs for his/her own professional situation. Examples of collective negotiations agreements are examined, analyzed and compared. The implications of recently enacted legislation are considered as they apply to the school board-employee relationship.
